LAUNCHED UK Prosperity Fund Smart Mobility Project, 2nd of October 2018 at Istanbul Naval Museum!

The kick-off meeting of the ‘Smart Mobility’ project supported by the UK Prosperity Fund was held on 2 October, 2018 at the Naval Museum in Besiktas, İstanbul. The project implemented by Novusens Smart City Institute in partnership with Transport Systems Catapult, UK aims to conduct a market study and increase bi-lateral trade relations between UK and Turkey in the area of smart mobility. The event was attended by project stakeholders, including related NGOs, academia, municipality and technopark representatives, private companies.

In his opening speech Andrew Price, Prosperity Fund program portfolio manager of the British consulate in Istanbul stated that the Prosperity program covers a number of sectors, including improving the Business Environment and increasing Trade and Investment opportunities, promoting Financial Services and Financial Markets; and developing Future Cities and the transition to a Low Carbon economy. Furthermore he added that ‘this new project aims to bring all key stakeholders, public and private, NGO and Academia to support the smart mobility transformation in Turkey to provide better life for its citizens and we are very glad to have the opportunity to support this project by Novusens Smart City Institute and the UK Transport Systems Catapult.

Berrin Benli, co-founder of Novusens, Program’s implementation organization, stated that “Smart transportation has always been the top priority area when it comes to smart cities. The global trends of urbanization, population growth, declining resources require new approaches, new business models, products and services to traditional problems. This is only possible with public, private, academic and civil society partnerships, therefore we are happy to have started this smart mobility project under the Prosperity Fund of UK designed to provide lasting and sustainable collaborations between Turkish and British companies.
